Funding
As stewards of the growth and development of the NZKF arts in New Zealand, we recognise the importance of club events in fostering skill, camaraderie, and the spirit of budo. While our resources are finite, the Federation is committed to supporting any endeavour that contributes to the proliferation of kendo, naginata, iaido and jodo (collectively referred to as ‘our arts’ or ‘budo’ below). With prudent management and shared responsibility, we can maximize the impact of our collective efforts.
Funding Availability
We need to be careful how we allocate funds to support club events. We aim to distribute our limited resources to ensure a broad benefit to the NZKF community. In this way we will support existing practitioners as well as extend the reach of our arts to potential new members across the country.
Application Timeline
To provide time for the Board to consider all requests, we require applications for funding be submitted a full four months prior to the proposed event date. This window allows the NZKF to review applications, seek clarification if necessary, and make informed decisions regarding the allocation of funds. We urge clubs to adhere to this timeline strictly, as it ensures that all applications are given due consideration.
Application Requirements
To apply for funding, clubs must provide a detailed plan of the event, including objectives, a comprehensive budget, and anticipated outcomes, particularly in relation to the growth and development of any of our arts within their community. We seek proposals that demonstrate a clear vision and measurable impact. A complete application should include the following:
- Event details: nature, scope, and schedule.
- Budget: a detailed breakdown of expected costs and revenues.
- Outcomes: how the event will contribute to the growth of our arts in New Zealand.
Community Funding Efforts
In light of our financial limitations, we strongly encourage clubs to actively seek additional funding or sponsorships from community and charitable bodies. This could include local businesses, cultural associations, and sports grants. Not only does this diversify funding sources, but it also builds stronger local networks and raises the profile of budo within the community. We recommend that clubs present a strong case for the value our arts bring to the community when approaching potential sponsors/funders.
Application Submission
Applications should be submitted to the NZKF Secretary who will then pass it on to the BOD for consideration. If you encounter any difficulties or have questions regarding the application process, please do not hesitate to contact the NZKF BOD for assistance. Contact details are below.
The NZKF is eager to support club events that align with our mission of expanding the practice of our arts. We understand the vital role these events play in the budo landscape of NZ and invite you to submit your applications for funding consideration. Together, we can continue to build a vibrant and dynamic budo community.
